WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?
wHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE?
The S3 Media Course enables learners to understand and analyse media content in order to make it. We will look at all types of genres, purpose, and audience. Learners will develop skills in using technology to plan; film and edit moving image media. They will also develop knowledge of the key aspects of media literacy and of the role of media in society.
Using technology to create media products such as short scenes, films, adverts etc. by planning; storyboarding; shooting and editing.
Developing media literacy and understanding of the language of media, specifically of moving image, through viewing films, programmes and adverts.
Develop critical understanding of the systems and products of the media and how it shapes our world.

Planning, filming and editing footage.
Watching a film or TV programme.
Individual research work.
How you will be assessed
Your work may be assessed in many different ways e.g.:
Taking part in a production from planning to finished product as part of a team or individually.
By demonstrating that you know and understand the language of media by short pieces of analysis.

The course in S3 will cover elements of National 3 and 4 Media, as well as beginning to look at National 4/5 work in preparation for further study in S4. The courses available in S4 are still in development.
