WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?

wHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE?

In Design with practical craft we will be using various materials and computer software to enhance your knowledge of materials and their suitability for design and manufacture projects.  You will gain confidence and dexterity in the use of software and apply specialist skills in developing products. 

You will learn about the design process in depth. Developing projects from initial design brief right up to the finished product. You will use sketching and drawing techniques and model making to develop and communicate your ideas as well as learning to interpret technical drawings and plans.  Through practical projects you will explore properties and functionality of materials such as wood, plastics and metals to establish their suitability for a task.  You will plan, develop, organise and evaluate the production of items manufactured to help develop your understanding of the manufacturing process.
