S3 COURSE
Being able to read, speak and write in clear English is the key to success in many aspects of life and work. Skills in English are important in many school subjects and essential in many occupations. This course provides you with purposeful reading, writing, talking and listening. These activities enable you to improve and extend your communication skills and also help you to enjoy the English language in prose, poetry and drama and media texts.
WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE?
The purpose of the course is to provide learners with the opportunity to develop reading, writing and listening and talking skills in familiar contexts. Learners will also develop the skills needed to understand, analyse and evaluate detailed language, through the study of a range of texts in language, literature and media contexts.

May involve preparation for, or completion of, class work as well as individual homework assignments where appropriate.
How you will be assessed
Course assessment will be based against performance in the Experiences and Outcomes at 2nd 3rd or 4th Level of CfE as appropriate. There are termly assessments in Reading and a focus on developing Critical Reading skills over the course of the year which will help to identify progression to National 3, 4 or 5 as appropriate.
