You will gather a folio of evidence as you progress through the course. This will consist of evidence of tasks carried out by you, Internal Assessment marked by your class teacher and moderated by the SQA

Steps to Work Award provides an opportunity for learners to engage in a range of activities designed to nurture and develop broad based and specific skills. The Award offers a holistic approach which allows learners the opportunity to develop, demonstrate and apply a range of skills and abilities in a variety of contexts and settings.
The principal aims of the Steps to Work Award are to enable learners to:

develop self-esteem, self-awareness and self confidence

develop the ability to engage in learning

recognise opportunities and possible progression routes

develop the skills and attitudes necessary to become successful learners and effective contributors

develop a range of employability skills

recognise their own uniqueness and to consider the wider contribution they can make to society as responsible citizens

engage in a range of learning activities in the context of personal development and employability
The award comprises two sections:
The Person-Centred section focuses on recognising, developing and supporting softer skills using Personal Development and Employability Units.
The Practical Context offers an opportunity to undertake an ICT unit in PC Passport - An Introduction to IT Systems.

EMPLOYMENT
The Steps to Work Award provides a structure to recognise wider achievement including opportunities linked to paid/unpaid employment or voluntary work. It seeks to develop skills, attitudes and understanding in you which can contribute to the development of transferable skills across all employment contexts and help you to gain and sustain employment.
