The Course provides a broad practical introduction to design and to technology. It provides opportunities for you to gain basic skills in both designing and in communicating design ideas. It allows learners to explore and improve design ideas through model making and testing.

WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?

As well as learning more about how products are designed and made in the real world, you will improve your design sketching and planning. You will have the opportunity to improve your practical skills in the workshop working with a range of materials.  

wHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE?

Throughout this course you will develop skills in producing and interpreting sketches, drawings and diagrams  develop skills in practical model making and construction develop skills in testing and simple evaluation of models apply safe working practices in a workshop or similar environment develop knowledge of basic engineering ideas.

entry requirements

Entry is at the discretion of the Principal Teacher of Design Faculty. However, S3 Design with practical is desired.

To achieve a National 3 Design and Technology award, you must pass all the required units. All units are internally assessed.
