COMMUNICATIONS and IT

S3 COURSE

Built around the theme of communication technologies, this course is primarily intended for pupils who would like to develop their computing and IT skills further but who would not enjoy the text-based programming content of the S3 Computing Science course.

WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?

No matter what career you intend to pursue, a knowledge of computing is becoming increasing valuable in the modern workplace. By taking this course you will develop your knowledge of several common apps along with an understanding of many computing terms and concepts.

wHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE?

Pupils will develop skills in a range of apps and related technologies, such as Publisher, PowerPoint, Canva, Scratch and HTML, whilst learning about the history of communication from the earliest times to the present day.

Pupils will be expected to complete any unfinished classwork in their own time and revise regularly for class assessments.

S4 and beyond

This course offers pupils the opportunity to progress to Steps to Work, Nat 4 Admin and IT, NPA in Games Development, NPA in Web Design and NPA in Cyber Security.
