WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?

wHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE?

Do you know where the word Economics originated from? It is from one Greek word Oikonomia which in turn is composed of two words oikos (household) and nemein (management).

Every day we make thousands of decisions whether we are managing a household or not. If you would like to understand what goes on behind the scenes when individuals like you, firms you know about and your government make decisions then this is the course for you.

Would you like to win an argument more often? Then the debating skills that you will develop in Economics classes will enable you to hold, sustain and defend an argument easily.

Skills:  A study in Economics will enable you to acquire the transferable skills and knowledge necessary for understanding and taking part in the world of business.  Even if you are not planning a career in Economics, this subject helps to improve your personal effectiveness by developing your ability to think logically, work accurately, make decisions and solve problems.

We will study the economic problem showing why we can’t always get what we want. You will learn that scarcity to an economist is the same problem as gravity to an astronaut.

We will teach you how to draw demand and supply graphs for any industry you wish to depict. We will ponder over the big questions such as: Are the FANGS monopolies? (Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Google, Snapchat)

You will be taught how to think critically using information about the positive and negative aspects of multinational companies

The skills you will develop are:

  • Research skills

  • Analytical skills

  • Written communication

  • Debating
